Together with Coaches Donna Green, Mike Brown and Cherie Rassmann, the Penn Jersey Panthers (Galloway) Girls 15U AAU Basketball team left New Jersey to compete in the United States Junior National (U.S.J.N.) Hershey Showcase over the 4th of July weekend. The team traveled to Harrisburg/Hershey, Pennsylvania to face some of the toughest competition to date. the girls had three games on Friday (July 1) they were undefeated on the first day of the tournament.

Full of confidence the team continued their undefeated record by beating three more tough teams.

The Panthers faced the Long Island Liberty again in the Semifinal Game the evening of July 2. Even after a one and half hour delay, the game ended with the Panthers (56) defeating the Long Island Liberty (40) for the second time. The Panthers were 6-0 at this point. They found themselves facing the undefeated Pennsylvania Huskies in the Championship Game, which was played at Giant Center in P.A. This was the ultimate match -- the Panthers nearly lost the game during the last two minutes. However, a critical steal by Janae Weldon made the difference in the game. The Panthers were able to dig deep, keep their confidence and went on to claim victory by securing a win against the Huskies in a 63-58 victory. The Penn Jersey Panthers (Galloway) Girls AAU Basketball team had clenched their first ever U.S.J.N. Championship.
